"Al-Queda praying for Obama win.."
"If I was running al-Qaeda in Iraq, I would put a circle around March 2008, and pray, as many times as possible, for a victory not only for Obama, but also for the Democrats."
-those wise words, from our ever wise ex-prime minister, John Howard. Bet he wishes he could retract those comments now.
Thank god, like the US, Australia had its own change of leadership earlier this year...and both the current PM and the opposition leader gave statements congratulating President Obama on a historic victory =) =)
and I'm over the moon. YAYyayYAYyayYAY. Didn't believe it would happen. Firstly, never ever thought we, the world, would see the end of the Bush administration...its been a looong time coming but it feels GOOD! Secondly, only a few years ago, if you had asked me if I had thought America would be ready for a black president in the near future, i would have said NO. Heck, 7 months ago I would have said no. I did not believe America would vote for a black man with a muslim sounding name..but America proved me wrong. And I'm so glad it did!!
YES WE CAN! That is stuck in my head. And right now, I want to put all my cynicism to the side and ride the wave of optimism and euphoria...
I don't want to ask how, or why, for the moment I just want to believe in the credentials of America's, and the worlds, capacity to change.
yes we can
